How to Create the Best 2019 Summer Makeup Looks

How to create the best summer makeup looks? Right here!

1. Summer Makeup Trend: Monochromatic Eyes (All Pink!)

Monochromatic Eyes

One of our favorite makeup for summer looks is to do your eyes using a monochromatic eyeshadow palette. You can do it using blues, purples, or really any color–but we love pink. To get the look in our video, we used the Ooh Lala pink eyeshadow color palette.

How to Get The Look:

  1. Start with a soft pink color (we used “soft core”) and a large tapered eyeshadow brush. Cover the entire eyelid starting from the outside of the eyelid near the crease. Use circular motions with the brush and take your time with it to ensure you get a nice blended layer of color.
  2. Next, go in with a flat brush and pick a slightly brighter color (we used the color “poodle”). Cover the brush with your shadow and then tap off the excess powder before you start. Apply shadow all over the lid.
  3. Then, to create a little more depth, apply a shimmery pink color. To do that, use a small tapered brush and pick a highlighter color (we used “tickle”). Carefully apply the highlighter to the inner corner of both your eyelids.
  4. After that, it’s on to the lower lash line! Choose a super bright pink (we used “sandbar), line the lower lash area.
  5. Finally, go back to the eyelid area using a flat brush and apply a shimmery pink (we used “big sugar”).
  6. To finish off your look, add mascara to both the upper and lower lashes.

2. Summer Makeup Trend: Bold Eye Liner

Bold Eye Liner

We’re kind of obsessed with the bold eyeliner look for summer. It’s a trendy makeup style that will give you that extra something special this season–perfect for graduation parties, backyard barbecues and more!

How To Make It Yours:

  1. Choose a bold eyeliner color (we chose an icy blue color!). Start with the outer eyelid and using small strokes inward. As you get closer to the inner eye, you can use less so that it’s thicker on the outside.
  2. If you want, you can also add a little bit of a wing to the outside of the eyelid.
  3. Once your eyeliner is on, add a little more mascara to really make your eyes pop.

3. Summer Makeup Trend: All Blue Makeup Look

Blue Makeup Look

Another one of our favorite makeup trends of the season involves adding a bright pop of blue color! (PS this is also one of our favorite makeup styles for prom!) To get the look in our video, we used the Color Pop Blue Moon Palette.

How to Make It Yours:

  1. Starting with a light blue color (we used “starry eyed”), use a large tapered eyeshadow brush to cover the entire crease and eyelid. Use circular motions with the brush and take your time with it to ensure you get a nice blended layer of color.
  2. Next, go in with a flat brush and pick a slightly brighter color (we used the color, “da ba dee”). Focus on the outer corner of the eyelid, apply your brighter blue to your eyelid.
  3. Then go back with a blending brush and run your brush over your eyelids and the crease making sure that everything looks nice and blended.
  4. To create an ombre effect, go in with a smaller brush and a lighter blue (called “moonlight”), and line the top of each eyelid. Focus more on the inner eyelid to create that pop.
  5. Next, add a small bit of highlighter (called “lume”) using a small brush. Line both the inner eye area and just below the lash line.
  6. Last, finish off your look, with mascara to both the upper and lower lashes.

4. Summer Makeup Trend: Fake Freckles!

Blue Makeup Look

Play up your best features by creating or accentuating your freckles (as in, not hiding them!). This is one of our favorite makeup styles because it draws attention to the eyes without requiring you to wear a ton of makeup. Experiment with brow gels and pencils to see what works best. We used Mr Bing Color Pop Gel Liner.

How to Make It Yours:

  1. Start by adding small dots (freckles) around your nose and cheeks. Keep in mind that you should start super light because you can always go back and darken them later.
  2. Next, using your finger or a blending sponge, dab your freckles to make them look a little more natural.
  3. Repeat steps one and two until you get the look you like!

Now that you know the trends, it’s your turn to try them. If you end up trying them for your next big night out, we’d love to see! Tag us @promgirlxo on Instagram and leave your makeup tips in the caption.
